The Objects of the Association

The objects for which the Association, a non-profit organization, is established are:-

(a)    To plant forests, thereby restoring the water source and improving the ecology environment and the livelihood in remote, mountain, arid and/or poverty stricken areas (“those areas”).

(b)    To promote, develop and research into eco-relationships between the soil, plants, animals, people and the biosphere, in order to relieve proverty while protecting and enhancing the environment in those areas.

(c)    To support, promote and engage in any undertakings that may be conducive to the resolution of peasants’ problems for relief of proverty.

(d)    To improve, support, develop and promote education and caring of the young and elderly in those areas.

(e)    To join and cooperate with and advise, if required, government departments, government authorities or other public bodies in China, Hong Kong or elsewhere or corporations, companies or persons whose objects are exclusively charitable and similar to the objects of the Association.

(f)    To promote and arouse public awareness and education on the importance of environmental protection and improvement including but not limited to the conservation of soil, water, forests.

(g)    To support and encourage organizations and institutions, incorporated or not incorporated, having objects that are exclusively charitable and similar to the objects of the Association.

(h)    To afford financial and/or technical and/or other assistance for the promotion, encouragement and fostering of environmental protection and other charities in China, Hong Kong or elsewhere.

(i)    To accept donations and endowments from any person, corporation, or institution in the advancement or to the attainment of the objects of the Association and support charitable establishments and institutions for any of such purposes, and to act as trustees, custodian trustees or managers of any funds subscribed or donated for any of such purposes, and generally to undertake and execute any trusts the undertaking of which may be considered conducive to the attainment of other objects of the Association and either gratuitously or otherwise.

(j)    To apply to government departments, authorities or other public bodies in China, Hong Kong or elsewhere or to corporations, companies or persons for, and to accept grants of money, land, donations, gifts, subscriptions, contracts, rights, privileges, concessions and other assistance for the promotion of the objects of the Association and to discuss and negotiate with them schemes of research and other work and matters within the objects of the Association and to conform to any proper conditions upon which such grants and other payments may be made.

(k)    To purchase, build, take on lease or in exchange, hire or otherwise acquire any real or personal property in China, Hong Kong or elsewhere, and in particular any land, buildings, laboratories, machinery, plant, apparatus, appliances and any rights or privileges necessary or convenient for the purposes of the Association and to construct, erect, alter, improve and maintain any buildings which may be from time to time required for the purposes of the Association and to manage, develop, sell, demise, let, lend, mortgage, dispose of, turn to account or otherwise deal with all or part of the same with a view to the promotion of the objects of the Association.

(l)    To establish, set up and register any subsidiary, branch office and/or joint ventures with others (including but not limited to government authorities, public bodies and any other associations or institutions) in China or elsewhere necessary or convenient for the purposes of the Association and/or the promotion of the objects of the Association.

(m)    To pay all expenses, preliminary or incidental to the formation of the Association and its registration.

(n)    To undertake and execute any trusts which may lawfully be undertaken by the Association and may be conducive to its objects.

(o)    To draw, make, accept, endorse, discount, negotiate, execute, and issue bills of exchange, promissory notes, and other negotiable or transferable instruments as may be required for the purposes of the Association.

(p)    To invest and deal with the moneys of the Association not immediately required for its purposes in or upon such investments, securities or property and in such reasonable and prudent manner as may be determined by the Association.

(q)    To obtain any order in Council, enactment or Ordinance for enabling the Association to carry out any of its objects for charitable purposes.

(r)    To establish, promote or assist in establishing or promoting and to subscribe to or become a member of any other association, company, or institution having exclusively charitable objects and prohibiting distribution of their income and property amongst their members to an extent as least as great as that imposed on the Association.

(s)    Subject to Clause 4 hereof, to employ or appoint consultants, professional or otherwise whether or not on remuneration, costs or fees paying terms for the purpose of giving effect or better giving effect or attaining the above objects or any of them.

(t)    To do all such other lawful things as may be incidental to or conducive to the attainment of the above objects or any of them.
